Nice review! I really like the movie for multiple reasons. One of which is probably that as a teenager I loved the Ringworld series (5 books) by Larry Niven, and Elysium is a Ringworld. I love the engineering ideas in the film.

For various reasons I saw Elysium as a depressing but likely future for the world. The ideas of Musk and Bezos only underscore that likelihood.

I didn't know that District 9 is from the same guy. I really liked that film but have yet to get my wife to watch our copy she thinks it looks dark and realistic. I can't argue with her there.
