My son brought a story to my attention about a year ago regarding some really young guy (my son's age) who went to California and made something like $22 million in the music industry. My son thought it was ridiculous for someone to make so much money.

Apropos supply chain: I said to my son that I have no problem if somebody makes $22 million, as long as everyone involved in making the record, from the studio musicians to the sound check person to the guy who cleans the toilets at the studio to the ladies who clean the windows on the office building of Spotify all make a living wage with unemployment, sick leave, retirement and full health care.

My suspicion is that in my scenario the recording star would still make a couple million from his tunes, with the other $20 million divided up between the thousand other poeople in the supply chain that got his music onto spotify (or wherever).

It's the inequality in our system that is destroying us. The idea that only a couple of folks at the top make insane amounts of money, while the vast majority in the supply chain below them are struggling to pay rent and are one unexpected auto repair away from financial ruin.
