My grandparents lived in Florida (Gainesfille) the last 25 years of their lives. My uncle (a brilliant retired scientist) has lived there his whole adult life (he was a professor at the university there). My aunt and uncle, who met each other at that same university 50 years ago, retired there a few years ago. So I've been to Florida a LOT over the decades.

As with most warm places in the US, if you are wealthy, Florida is fine. e.g. if you're a professional golfer, it is the place to live and practice in the off-season. For everyone else...not so much.

I find the 1/2 year of humidity and oppressive heat horrible. It is a swamp returning to nature through global warming and rising sea levels. No thanks.
