War is the most horrible thing man can do to man. It is the breakdown of diplomacy. 100 years ago after millions died in WWI, the "war to end all wars" world leaders got together and said, "OK, there are going to be wars, but we have to at least try to limit civilian casualties and unneeded suffering of the soldiers.”

So many people, apparently including you, have either forgotten or not taken to heart what it means when an entire generation of young men in multiple countries are dead.

Maybe your ignorance is what helps you not see the Russian societal PTSD with the Ukraine situation. In WWII, 1 of 7 Russians died. Every Russian today who did not emigrate there in the last 70 years lost family and knows about that generational loss.

Destruction in Russia in WWII was huge. Area-wise, it would be comparable to all US cities between the East Coast and the Mississippi being flattened.

This war needs negotiations NOW to end the slaughter before it goes further. You know what is worse than losing land to Russia? Death. You know what is worse than living under a dictator like Putin? Death.

Here in Europe we are flooded with Ukrainian refugees. Their lives will never be the same. Many have lost everything at home, including their homes.

In 2021 Russia said, "Ukraine, let the Donbass be semi-independent and don't join NATO. Then there will be no war." Does that sound like a bad deal in July 2023? Particularly taking Russia's PTSD regarding Ukraine into consideration, which you should if you want to avoid war.

Do you think Ukraine is going to get a better deal than the one offered by Russia in 2021 now? If you do you're in for a nasty surprise. Unless NATO joins the fight and we all die in WWIII, the end deal for Ukraine will be worse than what was offered in 2021, and what remains of Ukraine will not recover for at least a generation.
