Like the US tells the truth about our involvement in foreign wars. 60 years ago we officially only had "advisors" in Vietnam when the truth was we had a considerable number of fighting troops there. Only later did we admit to a greater involvement. Note I don't say, "to our actual involvement" because that information is never shared with the public).

That pattern has repeated itself many times since Vietnam. So today we say we've sent 16 Himars. The Russians say they've destroyed 44. The truth most likely lies somewhere in between. We'll never know for sure.
