It depends on how you define "better." Airbnb as an idea of sharing space you're not using and making a bit of cash is cool. Airbnb in practice of being an unregulated hotel business is not cool.
If hotel regulations are broken, then fix them. Creating a gray market of hotels that ignore zoning that massively impacts housing values while leaving the guest without protections is just wealths extraction.
