Lie-flat seats are really awesome. Back in the pleistocene epoch when I was in my 20s, a coach class seat and a cuppa strong joe the next day would be enough. Not anymore. LOL.
Since I have to travel for business, I make sure that the contract pays for business-class seats if I have to travel internationally.
TBH I'm not sure how much is age, how much is efficiciency (my calculation on costs is real) and how much is that it's no longer such an adventure.
I still love to travel but having flown transatlantic so many times I would need five minutes to make an estimate on how many times I've made the flight - the thrill of the air travel is gone. I'm just happy when I get there. The inside of the 3000th airplane looks preeety much the same as the 30th.
Kind of ironic for a guy who never flew on a commercial flight until after I graduated from university (humble beginnings).
My birth family is still all back in the US, so my passport will be kept current.
If you really want to try getting one of those seats, see about getting an airline credit card where you get miles for what you spend. Then you can buy an upgrade to business-class on miles, or even the whole ticket if you have enough miles.
