Let's be clear. It is a tipping point for modern human civilization, not for the planet.

The dominant species and most everything bigger than a housecat was wiped out by a giant meteor about 66 million years ago. The planet survived and here we are. Unfortunately, it appears we are too greedy and violent as a species to stop killing ourselves.

It would be interesting to know what archeologists of the dominant species in another few million years can conclude from the fossil records about what happened to us.
