Lefties are Right!

The dominant hand corresponds to the opposite dominent hemisphere of the brain. Ergo: Only left-handed people are in their right mind.

Lefties of a certain age know we were given non-functional scissors with rounded tips as small children. Apparently this was to keep us from stabbing either our kindergarden classmates or ourselves with real scissors because those things were certainly not made to cut paper. I learned to cut with my right hand, to use a mouse right-handed, and several other things, just to save myself the headache of switching.

Sadly the ideas of right-hand dominance and left-hand deviance are still alive and well. I had a customer in a former Warsaw Pact country ask me only a few years ago if he should try to change his left-handed daughter to be right-handed. I just got a new blender from Philips that only works if you hold the handle of the carafe with your right hand when inserting it into the base. [sigh]
