It's almost like Iran says, "If the US succeeds in destroying Russia, they will have much more capacity in their 43 year effort to destroy our country." We make our own adversaries.

The US/UK overthrew the democratic government of Iran in 1953. We installed the Shah, a brutal dictator, but one who gave massively lucrative oil contracts to Western countries.

The Shah spied on everyone. The mosque was the only place people could meet and talk in private. No surprise then, that the group who eventually rose to overthrow the Shah were a radical conservative authoritarian religious group.

This group of repressive religious leaders have ruled Iran since 1979. We in the west have been putting ever tigher sanctions on them.

Again, we create our own adversaries. As the US empire has grown, so has the list of countries that see us as a force for evil and repression.

Our all-out war to destroy Russia has made it clear to all these countries that famous saying from the time of the US revolution. "We can hang together, or we can hang separately."

We make our own adversaries, and our all out effort to destroy a major country like Russia is pushing our adversaries to see us as enemies, and "hang together" so that they don't "hang separately" like Iraq and Libya.
