It is really incredible the amount of propaganda one gets growing up as an American in the US, particularly a white American. To quote my wife, American men are taught that the sun shines out of our asses. I'll save the women for a different post. We're taught we are the saviors of the world and can do no wrong because "we mean well." Sam Harris level of bullshit.

After I moved abroad but traveling back several times a year I had a real awakening as to what the US media was doing through my real-time comparisons of "the news."

I remember about five years after I moved abroad I was home visiting and my sister asked me if there had been a big war when I had turned 18 if I would have enlisted. I answered honestly and without hesitation, "Yes." What a naïve kid I was. Lucky, too. Propaganda really works.
