Interesting, yes. I see Mary Poppins as a US-Disney-fied version of what British Culture is. Similar to how the Sound of Music (also Julie Andrews) was a fairytale version of both the Van Trapp family and life in Austria during Der Anschluss.
I love Mary Poppins (I think) because it reminds me of being a child and believing in fairytales before I grew up and learned how the world really is. Plus,
I've always liked Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.
