Interesting piece. I find it interesting that these "hopeless" Russians with their "old" weapons are able to keep delivering tanks, guns, and ammo (shells, bullets and missiles) while the Ukraine keeps running out of everything.
It is almost like that old tech of Russia is working in a well-tested combined armed fashion, adapting to every new "wonder weapon" (e.g. stingers, javelins, M777s, HIMARS) after a few weeks and then slowly grinding forward. Almost like that since the first attempt at a "shock and awe" victory failed in the first weeks.
I'm here in Europe watching high level Russia hawks get the sack, while the US openly worries we can't support our own forces and support Ukraine if this goes on another six months.
So NATO is unable to deliver weapons and ammo to what NATO says is the most important conflict since WWII in Europe, Putin is a madman who must be removed from power, while Russia just keeps grinding down the Ukraine military forces while simultaneously destroying the electrical system Ukraine needs for its military logistics. But Russia is losing.
I'm seeing the Kessel around Bakhmut slowly heat up. The second to last line of defense for the center of Ukraine. But Russia is just about depleted its supply. That would be more believable if I hadn't been hearing the same story since April.
It is almost like we in the west don't really care about Ukraine. Very many western cold war experts predicted exactly this scenario. The Pentagon said only a few years ago there is no way Ukraine can beat Russia. Now we see the entire NATO block supplying Ukraine, plus CIA and UK and US special forces "not on the ground" (wink-wink) can't stop Russia. Slow Russia down? Sure. But at what cost?
Again, it is almost like this whole war was just to put a wedge between the EU and Russia, so that the US can sell LNG at 3-4x the price Russia was sellling it to us, plus sell a whole lot more weapons.
The biggest losers are Ukraine. The country is destroyed. The Ukrainian people are dead, maimed or refugees. Horrible.
Peace talks should have not been stopped by the UK/US in April. They should be going on now. This horror needs to end.
