Incorrect. Ukraine does NOT agree with you. In March of 2022 in Istanbul, Russia and Ukraine came to an agreement to end the war with very little bloodshed. The agreement would have needed the US (NATO) to provide security agreements. The US - through Boris Johnson and the UK - made it clear we in the west wanted war. The Ukrainians at that point had to follow their western masters and the rest is history.
Surrendering when you have no chance to win is not cowardice. In 20 years, when Ukraine is still a disfunctional rump state controlled by Blackrock, the hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians who are dead will still be dead. Their families and lives destroyed.
I'm sure there will be a few who will say it was better to fight a war we knew we couldn't win rather than compromise. But most won't. Russia was not asking for Ukrainian capitulation. They were asking for Ukraine to go back to being neutral, and to implent the Minsk II accords that Ukraine signed.
