In an earlier life (segment) I spent about 2 months traveling Spain. Beautiful country and people. A Coruña IS beautiful. Your advice about the pilgramage is good.

My favorites place in Nothwest Spain was just down the road from A Coruña at Santiago De Compostela I'm pretty sure my son was concieved there, so I'm a bit biased. Spain has so many beautiful places.

Travel tip for Spain: There is a great, government subsidized chain of hotels called "Paradores." They are all historical places renovated and turned into hotels. All unique and the rooms in each are also unique. The hotels are placed so that you can always reach a next Paradores within a days drive. They aren't "bargain" hotels, but WAY cheaper than luxury hotels in other countries or even Spain, since they are subsidized, AND you can sleep in 4 poster canopy bed in a real Spanish castle!

Here is the link for the Paradores in Santiago De Compostela: https://www.paradorsofspain.com/paradoresDetails.aspx?code=103#divLocation
