I'm no expert on France, so I just read this as reference (thanks) and to say I really like all the Louis de Funès movies that I've seen.

I've watched (10+) de Funès films in German (my second language) dubbed from French. My enjoyment of the fims in a "second derivative" language makes it clear to me why de Funès is a French cinematic national treasure. If I find them great, for the French, in French, all the additional subtleties of humor and culture must be fantomastic!
