I'm an American entrepreneur living and running a tech-reliant business in the EU for 30 years, so I not only have a dog in this hunt, I AM dog in this hunt.

There are definitely problems with the EU. Being more like the fully corrupt US is not (yet) one of them.

The premise is flawed that the only thing that matters is GDP. GDP is a ranking system based on war economies. Thus it is no surprise that in the constantly-at-war-US-based empire, the US has the highest GDP.

Google, Apple, Microsoft, Oracle, and Facebook are all giant US tech companies (I'll bet they're in that list of six). They are ALL monopolies or near-monopolies that spend fortunes working with and/or for the totally corrupt and corporate-captured US government. That is NOT what Europe should be looking to emulate.

I could go on with the rest of your very interesting and informative article. I agree that Europe needs to change. I disagree vehemently that we should be looking to the US as a template for success.
