I'll just stop after your first sentence. I (of course) think I am right, just not for any of the reasons you list there.
For the last 30 years I have lived 30 minutes from the border to what was the Iron Curtain. I have a lot of colleagues, friends and family that lived significant portions of their life under Soviet rule, including my wife and almost her entire family. I have been doing business in former Warsaw Pact countries for nearly 20 years.
You know what is worse than living under the rule of someone the West sees as "not good enough"? Not living at all because "The West" decided you needed to be saved.
Tatars, huh? Interesting choice. While the Russians were purging the Tatars from Crimea in the 18th and 19th centuries what was the US doing? Oh, right, we were purging the Native Americans from the entire North American continent. If you look at the percentage of Tatars that have remained in Crimea compared to the US Native Americans, the Russians look a lot better than us.
Get off your high horse, Richard. We are an empire doing empire shit around the world. Just because we're on top right now does not by definition make us moral, good or right.
