I wrote the original post on 17 March 2020. That was the "official" mortality rate at the time. I've left the post up as a reminder of how we were lied to.

I know now that the mortality rate is about 1/10 of that number. We don't know, and may never know, if the people at the top of the DNS knew in March 2020 that the mortality rate was so low and lied to us, or were willing to risk millions of deaths for power. I'm not sure which I think is worse.
