I wish people would stop calling Putin a "madman" and "irrational." If you do some research you can see logic and rational conclusions are possible based only on western public info. Putin has much more information than we we do.

Putin is also a dictator. Dictators don't stay in power long if they look weak. Add all that together and the decisions Russia and specifically Putin have made may be brutal, but from his/their point of view completely rational.

Also: There is no genocide in Ukraine. The war is horrible enough as it is. Our invasion of Iraq killed far, far more civilians in the first weeks than Russia's invasion in Ukraine. If it was genocide things would be much worse. Exaggerating the horrors of this war will only make it harder to end it, and to get justice afterwards.
