Sarcasm aside, good on you. I would disagree that that there are no rules, but I think it is just semantics. I think you have discovered what it took me way to long to discover: You don't have to live your life by the rules of others, even mother nature.

You do have to accept that breaking the rules of others can have consequences - e.g. Not taking things that don't long to you- but you CAN break them. Rules such as "family first" and "don't talk bad about the dead" are often just norms set to protect people who abuse(d) you.
