I was very fortunate not to have student debt. My parents paid at a time when state schools were still affordable.

I've never missed one of my around 400 mortgage payments. I've paid off one place and will pay off the other two less than six years. This made for some real sacrifices for me, particularly in the years with 3 mortgages.

Why the humble brag? Because I'd have been all for loan forgiveness and refinancing for homeowners after the 2008 crash, even if it their bad loan was their own fault. I made it through that crash. A lot didn't. It would be MUCH better for the US econony to have helped those people out and not the banks (or not just the banks).

I see it as exactly the same situation for college loan forgiveness.
