I was born in Wisconsin and grew up in Minnesota back when there were real winters with lots of snow every year. I got to “enjoy” the late 70s polar vortex with -35°F with -72° wind chill — two days in one week while delivering papers by bicycle at 5:00 am! I found this essay equal parts funny and poignent.
I embrace my current privilege a long ways from Minneapolis. I enjoy winter and snow, but I know it is my good fortune to be in that small minority.
