I was already living (but not permanently) in Vienna at the time. One of my best friends was a Czech women who had lived most of her life and career in Bratislava before coming to Vienna in 91.

My wife (I didn't know her in 91) is from CZ and her family is all still there.

All that is to establish my "street cred" to say that I agree pretty much 100% with your comment.

I would only add (and the reason for my comment) that just because decentralization worked for the Slovaks (and I'm happy it did as they are only 30 minutes away from me here), doesn't mean the same would happen in other breakups.
