I visited New Zealand and in particular Rotorua just up the road from Lake Rotomahana about 5 lifetimes ago. It is the greenest countryside I've ever seen anywhere.
The locals say it is so green there because of the massive volcanic eruptions of Mount Tarawera 100 or so years prior. The volcanic ash covered everything, but once vegetation poked through, everything grew umbelievably well due to the great soil.
There were an unbelievable number of sheep there, as well as a lot of cows. The ice cream was incredibly good.
Such a beautiful place. Don't know if I'll ever make it back there, but I have wonderful memories!
