I very much agree, with the caveat that this problem didn't start with Trump.

Removing Trump and "restoring" what was there before only says, "Do the same as Trump, just don't be so fucking obvious about it."

I've written before and repeat here: We're lucky we got a rich, lazy, not too bright authoritarian leaning president like Trump as a backlash to 40 years of Neo-liberalism. Next time we won't be so lucky.

Ted Cruz put up a pretty good fight in 2016. Maybe next time it will be a smoother version of Tom Cotton. Somebody with brains and a desire for war everywhere. Then we'll really have a Hitler-like situation.
