I think you can't see the forest for the trees. The UN is where people talk rather than shoot at each other. Even when I find the endless UN discussions with no resolutions with no resolutions infuriating, it is better than no discussion at all.

I think permanent seats on the UN security council with veto power is not democratic, but the world population (i.e. UN general assembly) making judgements is - flawed as it is - the best form of world democracy we currently have.
