I think both of your examples are more caricatures than real examples, although I know and have known both types of men and women in each.
What is missing for me is the meta-question, "Why do you want to attract people to you?" If you want to get laid, act like Cooper. If you want a long-term relationship, act like Simon. I would add, "If you want a long-term partnership, you should have a mix of both."
Most of the "Simons" I've known do not end up happy, because they think, “How do I want this person to feel after spending time with me?” Instead of, “How do I feel after spending time with this person?”
