I remember reading somewhere that when humans were hunter-gatherers, we spent about 20 hours a week on "work." That left plenty of time for hanging out in literal man-caves.

I see from the comments you've triggered a few people. I'm a successful capitalist who works a lot. I know many people in the social democratic country where I live who are happy having less but working a LOT less.
