I left exactly because I didn't want our child to grow up thinking that the dysfunctional dynamic between my wife and I was "normal." I will note that 1) It was not my job to make her happy, and 2) she was happy with the marriage and very unhappy that I wanted a divorce.

I wish I had been thinking about myself first earlier. We never would have gotten married, but I was a VERY different person back then.
