I had almost that situation some years ago. I met her in person at an event overseas and we really clicked. We continued on-line for some months. Then I traveled there multiple times, and once she came to visit me. Eventually it got very serious.

I have a son here (at the time he was very young and lived with his mom), so moving back to the US was completely out of the question for me. She had a career and was very close to her family. She said she would move to Vienna, but then she dumped me.

It was very romantic (up until I got dumped), as you say. That being said, what you can't know from that situation is if you can live with the person day to day. Obviously I'll never know. I'm extremely happy with my life now, so I don't dwell on it.
