I grew up reading comic books. Mostly Marvel because I found DC heroes boring. I have watched The Rock for a long time, and I also see his movies as "hit or miss." I find him personally appealing and charismatic and there is no doubt the man works hard.
Unfortunately even some of his hits have singles scenes or snippets that sour me (or my wife) completely on a film. Particulary when he takes his (clearly PED-enhanced) self too seriously or makes "jokes" about his penis. Ultra-cringe. Arnold could pull that shit off as it was cringey, but original. After 30+ years of hearing/seeing similar gags/lines, only the cringe remains.
So I'll wait for a day or so when my wife is out of town and "Black Adam" has made it to Netflix. If I miss that window of opportunity, no big deal. I can tell you for sure I won't fill the gap with a viewing of "Green Lantern" - another DC superhero movie with another personally appealing and charismatic star who makes a lot of hit and miss movies, Ryan Reynolds.
