I fully agree. There is no way Hamas could achieve more than a symbolic victory on 7 October. But that symbol - like the Tet Offensive - was incredibly powerful. The Palestinians said, "We will never give up."
I wonder if in future decades people will use Netanyahu like Hitler and ask, "How long will we appease [fill in bad guy du jour]? This is like Gaza in 2024." It is not Hamas, or Hezbollah or Iran that are attacking all their neighboring countries, annexing their land, creating apartheid states for ethnic groups, etc.
Of course, no comparison is 1:1 and Hitler was a singularly evil man. But that was 90 years ago and less relatable to people today than the full-color video coming out every day of what Netanyahu's Israeli government is doing and calling for.
