I don’t know of any plans to make General Grevious style cyborgs to achieve immortality. Transferring only your consciousness to a machine would just be making a partial copy of yourself. Your physical original would still get old and die, most likely watching the digital version of yourself hoarding electrical power supplies. “Does this battery make me look fat?”

My mom used to say, “Grandchildren are your reward for not killing your children.” I think the only sort of physical immortality we have open to us results from a different type of “upload.”
