I don't have a dog in this fight, being just one of your many former colonial subjects. Personally I'd claw back a shitton of that money and the crown and leave them just upper-middle-class wealthy. Violent overthrow, let alone a violent overthrow 1000 years ago, is not a valid basis for power in 2021.
