I disagree. An avatar is just that, an avatar.

I've been working online remotely for over 20 years, since the days of dial-up modems. The best first meetings are in person. The second best are those with cameras on both sides. Once you remove seeing the person you're talking to quality of discussion drops. Again this applies if don't know the other party personally and rather well.

This is why I wrote when it came out that the Metaverse will be a failure. Business is all about trust. If you're a cartoon talking to another cartoon it is virtually impossible to get a feeling for the other person and to build trust. No way would I pay for the privilege of talking to what I know is a fake persona.
