I definitely agree that is not fascism, but the Ukrainian civil war and now the Russian intervention in that civil war seems to be all about Ukrainians in the east feeling oppressed because they cannot be "Russian - Ukrainians."

I'm two countries away with family or close friends there, but even before the civil war the locals told me that they felt oppressed that they couldn't speak Russian in Ukraine, and that was in Kyiv.
