I am correct. It was untrue - at least for white people - for several decades after WWII. But that is not the point. The point is that the Dems stopped being the party of the working class in the 90s, and by the mid-2010s this had become clear.

The financial situation got much worse during Covid, when 40% of all black-owned businesses closed.

Trump won in 2016 for the same reason he won in 2024 - he is at least willing to say there IS a problem in the US and that not everyone is doing well.

I have no illusions that Trump will be good in a second term as I think he did a poor job in his first four years. I'm not an apologist for Trump. I am pointing out that the Dems continued, "everything is fine" line falls hollow on the ears of a majority of Americans.
