I also don’t think it is the government. When I said, “the US” I meant the oligarchs that control the main street media.
I’m unaware of who the “they” is that you refer to that wants “equity” instead of equality. Mostly what I hear is that people want equality of opportunity.
I think if you’ve been vaccinated (I’m still waiting where I live) then there is no need to wear a mask. I don’t wear one outside or when I’m alone. That would be pointless. That being said, Asian tourists have been wearing them for years — decades even. Of course wearing a mask means you’ll be less likely to get someone else’s germs. Is it necessary? I’d say no but if you want to wear one I really could not care less.
Forcing someone who is vaccinated to wear one is both scientifically unsound as well as politically stupid. The goal is to get everyone vaccinated so that the virus finally dies out. If you tell people you still have to wear a mask even if you’ve been vaccinated, then what is the fucking point of the vaccination?
Where I live (Austria) we are great with testing, but really slow with vaccination. I won’t get my first shot until the end of this month. :-( But there are lots and lots of testing places, and they have a gargle test now which is much nicer than the “let me poke a stick in your nose” test, and so I get tested every few days so that I can go to the gym and work out.
