I agree with everything you wrote except one part of this sentence. Socialism has state ownership of the means of production, but does (usually) allow private personal property. There is not "one" definition of socialism.

Your last sentence is very true in the West and definitely a bad trend for those of us living in the West and not being gagillionaires.
