"Help?" We aren't trying to "help" Ukraine. The US oligarchs are trying to help themselves. To Ukraine's riches and ultimately (again, as in the 90s) to Russia's riches.

Without US "help" in contesting the 2004 election, and then "help" in arming the Neo-Nazis to violently coup the democratically elected government in 2014, Ukraine would't need anyone's "help" at all.

From 1991 to 2014 Ukraine didn't need "help" with Russia from outside. I was there. I don't pretend to be an expert on Ukraine. Despite massive corruption, the country as a whole was doing alright. They were not threatened by Russia. They made $4 billion a year transiting Russian gas, and did a lot of other business with them.

Without US "help" Ukraine would still be making bank off being the "borderland" (see what I did there?) between Russia and the EU, and not soon to become a dysfunctional, land-locked rump state.
