Happy to see that at least a few of us agree that the Baron was not a "cartoon" (as I've read by "other" reviewers). He was creepy AF.

I really liked the Lynch version of the film. It was hampered by two issues: Technology and time. Like the 1978 Bakshi LOTR, it was not possible to have Sci-Fi/Fantasy with live action that was believable (technology) and filming a book in 2 or 3 installments (e.g. Jackson’s LOTR) was also not accepted back then. Within those constraints, I think Lynch's adaption was awesome.
