Great story. You really dodged a couple of bullets there!

I also went through a bad divorce, and then got dumped by my rebound girlfriend, and that REALLY dropped my IQ, which is dangerous in my case as negative IQ really is a thing (see: US Congress).

What I did NOT do (and the reason for my comment) is to follow my mom's advice:

"Do not make any big life decisions for six months after a major life shakeup."

Oh, if I'd only listened to mom...
