Great article. I love "Vida La Vida" by Coldplay. I listened to it in the gym on one of my playlists just a few hours ago! I'd never heard the Joe Satriani tune, but holy moly is it similar.

I'm sure that at least some of the copies are situations where a band member heard the original but in a background situation. Then writing some music a few years later they "came up with" a cool sounding riff or melody because in their musically inclined brains that tune was waiting to get out.

In any case, it sounds like in most all cases justice was done. Nice to read some good news once in a while!
