It is speculated (and I tend to agree) that King was assasinated because he was speaking out too loudly against the Vietnam war and specifically the MIC, and because his poor people’s march was for all poor — black and white. The powers that be realized that King had real potential to get poor whites and blacks to see that they had much more in common than differences, and were being set against each other by the ruling class. Each of those two crimes by a major figure in the US carries a death sentence. See: Fred Hampton and possibly JFK.
