Good Looks are a Blessing and a Curse

I've read similar stories for decades and seen it in real life all my career (30+ years). Good looks help in some situations and hurt in other very closely related situations.

My wife is a very pretty woman who still turns a lot of heads even though she is now...let's say older than 29. She has faced (pun intended) this issue her entire life.

A pretty woman is required to perform a near-impossible balancing act to get ahead in both business and privately. Many women get jealous and sabotage prettier women. Many men can't handle rejection and sabotage pretty women. Both men and women use slander and inuendo to try to reduce competition from pretty women who are smarter and/or more talented than they are.

There is rarely a “right” way of acting for a pretty woman. She can’t make everyone happy. What worked in the last situation very often doesn’t work in the next.

A pretty woman has to thread a very small needle, have a huge reserve of patience, a very thick skin and more than a bit of luck to succeed.
