Fortunately their have been mulitple international polls made over the years that confirm my statement and refute your personal opinion.

I have never lived in Ukraine, but my wife and I were very good friends with some Ukrainians, to the point that my wife was a bridesmaid in a wedding in Kyiv.

Back then (10+ years ago) our Ukrainian friends of Russian descent were complainly vociferously of how Russian culture was being made illegal in Ukraine.

Thousands (OSCE estimates around 15,000) people had already been killed in the civil war in the Ukraine prior to Russia's 2022 invasion.

As predicted by many cold war experts, the civil war the US fomented by backing the 2014 coup lead to Russia taking the side of the Russia-leaning Ukrainian oblasts.

I'm not saying it is right or legal what Russia did. I'm not an international lawyer. I do live in the real world. Russia made it clear over decades that they would not accept Ukraine as part of NATO. As the world's biggest nuclear power, the US and NATO ignored Russia's red lines.

Using your words, Russia said, "Well boo hoo, Ukraine, NATO and the US. Deal with your feelings. We will not accept Ukraine killing the people in the breakaway Donbas oblasts."
