Except that people are being punished and calling for punishment. Clearly it is not as bad as in autocratic Russia (yet), but if our measuring stick is, "Our repression, censureship and punishment is not as bad as in Russia" then we're in a very bad place.

Wanting people like Carlson, Stone, Gabbard, etc. to be investigated and/or charged with treason (punishable by death) for questioning official US state department rhetoric differs from Russian suppression in degrees, not in principle.
