Dylan, that is simply not true. The IMF, the most western of western monetary funds, says the Russian economy will grow this year (2023).

That after being really hit hard by sanctions in Q1 of last year (2022). I admit I also thought Russia would be crushed by the sanctions. I learned a lot about what GDP means and doesn't mean last year.

I'm just glad I don't play financial markets. I would have lost my shirt betting against Russia last year.
