Chechnya is far more difficult to judge, but Georgia attacked Russia - at the urging of the US (Cheney), not the other way around. Russia annexed Crimea after the US backed the coup in Ukraine - it was a response - not an unprovoked action.

I don't condone Russia's invasion of Ukraine, but I do agree that if the west had not toppled the democratically elected Ukraine government in 2014, there would have been no civil war that eventually Russia felt they needed to take sides in.

William Burns (then US ambassador to Russia, now CIA director) predicted EXACTLY this scenario in 2008 when the US started calling for Ukraine to join NATO. We WANTED this war. We got it. The poor Ukrainians are getting killed, maimed and destroyed because of it.
